Listed below are 5 tips that will help you improve your PTE preparation level and improve your score in the "summarize written text".
1. Use complex sentences correctly
If you are not sure whether you can use complex sentences correctly, use simple sentences. For example, only use the structure of "…, and …, and …." If you feel you can handle complex sentences, you should practice writing complex sentences and use them correctly. If you don’t know the correct usage of commas and semicolons, please avoid them. It is also important to use correct punctuation and capital letters.
2. Write just one sentence to complete your summary
Many times, candidates forget that they can only use one sentence to summarize the article. They stopped and started with a new sentence, or forgot to use the conjunction (and). Following the instructions given, this is completely incorrect. Remember, with a limit of 5 to 75 words, you only need to write a sentence.
3.Find out the main points
Do not try to summarize everything. Try to find the main idea behind the paragraph and grasp the key words. Usually there will be important content in the first and last sentences of a paragraph. One thing to consider is not to copy the sentences in the article completely, but to use synonymous substitution methods.
4. Pay attention to the grammatical tenses
Different paragraphs of an essay may use several different tenses, but candidates should pay attention to writing in the same tense when summarizing. At the last minute of the exam, students should make sure that your grammar and spelling are correct.
5. Try the PTE practice test
Get in the habit of identifying key points and how to summarize them. Try the PTE practice test to improve your writing skills. These tests provide an interface similar to actual tests, so they can help you better prepare.
