Unpaid Trial Shift

You did a four-hour trial shift at a café last week, serving customers and cleaning tables. The manager has now offered you regular work, but nothing has been said about payment for the trial. You know unpaid trials should be short and supervised. Speak to the manager: politely raise the issue and ask to be paid for those hours.

Hi, thanks again for offering me the regular shifts, I'm really looking forward to starting. Before I do, I wanted to ask about last week's trial. I worked four hours serving customers and closing up, mostly without supervision, and I understand that in Australia a trial like that is usually paid as normal work. Would it be possible to add those hours to my first pay? I'm not trying to make a fuss, I just want to make sure everything is set up correctly from the start. Thanks for understanding.
