Vanishing Groceries

The situation

You share a flat with two others and buy your own food. Over the past month, your milk, bread and snacks have kept disappearing from the fridge and pantry. Speak to your flatmate in the kitchen: raise the issue politely, explain how it affects your budget, and suggest a fair system for shared and personal food.

Model answer

Hey, have you got a sec? It's nothing major, but I wanted to mention something. Over the last few weeks, my milk, bread and a few snacks have been going missing before I get to use them. I'm on a pretty tight student budget, so replacing things twice a week really adds up. I'm not blaming anyone, but maybe we could agree on a system? Perhaps we label personal items and keep a shared shelf for things like milk that we all chip in for. What do you think?
