Leave Handover Meeting

The situation

You are going on two weeks' annual leave from next Monday, and a colleague has agreed to look after your clients while you are away. You still have not handed over your files, and tomorrow is your last day. Speak to your colleague: explain why the handover matters and suggest a time to go through everything together.

Model answer

Hi, sorry to grab you when you're busy. As you know, I'm off on leave from Monday, and tomorrow's my last day. I really appreciate you covering my clients, but I'm conscious we haven't done a proper handover yet. There are a couple of accounts with deadlines next week, and I'd hate for anything to slip through while I'm away. Could we sit down for half an hour tomorrow morning, maybe at ten, and I'll walk you through the files and leave you a short written summary? Thanks so much, I owe you one.
