Bright Security Light
The situation
You live next to a neighbour who installed a motion-sensor security light pointing at your bedroom window. It switches on repeatedly each night and wakes you, and you have early classes. Speak to your neighbour at their front door: raise the issue in a friendly way, explain the effect on your sleep, and suggest adjusting the angle or sensitivity.
Model answer
Hi, sorry to drop by unannounced. I'm from next door, in the unit with the blue fence. I noticed you've put in a new security light, which is a great idea. The only thing is, it points straight at my bedroom window and comes on several times a night, maybe when cats or possums go past. I've got early classes most days, and it's been waking me up a lot. Would you mind if we looked at tilting it down slightly, or lowering the sensitivity? I'm happy to help adjust it. Thanks for understanding.
