PTE (Pearson Test of English) is an English test. On these pages the task explanations and messages are in your language, and you answer the English questions exactly as in the exam.

What is translated in each language

19 interface languages: 5 source languages written by hand and 14 machine-translated languages. “Task explanations” are the written task guides on the language home and its task pages; “scoring example” is a saved, playable example on the language home.

What changes when you choose a language

The interface, task-format explanations and scoring feedback messages are available in Hindi and Nepali, as well as the other languages listed above. Each language has a home page.

Questions, source passages, audio, answer choices and model answers stay in English, as in the PTE exam. Quoted words and key points inside feedback also stay in English. Some newer interface or feedback text may fall back to English where a translation is missing.

The explanations are written guides to the task format and practice steps; choosing a language does not turn the English exam into an exam in that language.

Questions students ask

Not entirely. Urdu: interface yes, task explanations yes, feedback messages yes; the Urdu text is machine-translated and not yet reviewed by native speakers. Hindi: interface yes, task explanations yes, feedback messages yes; written by hand. The Hindi home page has a saved scoring example; the Urdu home page does not.

Do I need to change the English questions?

No. The exam questions stay in English. Your chosen language explains the task; you practise the English question as it appears in the exam.

Are the PTE questions translated?

No. Exam questions stay in English. The interface, task explanations and feedback messages can use your chosen language.

Have all translations been reviewed by native speakers?

No. The 14 machine-translated languages have not been reviewed by native speakers; missing text can remain English.
