PTE Core Preparation: 2-Week, 4-Week and 8-Week Plans

Start PTE Core preparation with a diagnostic or your account’s 1 free full mock test, shared across Core and Academic, then choose a 2-week, 4-week or 8-week plan based on the gap in each skill.

Start with a diagnostic, then choose the calendar

A free account has 1 full mock credit in total, shared across Core and Academic, not a new free mock at every checkpoint. The Core mock contains 52 original questions and gives per-skill practice estimates and estimated CLB. If you have already used your credit, start with the open listening and reading examples plus a timed email and situation response instead.

A calendar is a way to organise practice, not a forecast. Choose the length from the actual gap in each skill and your available study time. A student aiming for the same CLB may need a different plan.

Set a target for each skill

CLB targetListeningReadingSpeakingWriting

Compare each practice estimate separately with the target. Estimates are not calibrated to Pearson results, so use them alongside whether your answers are accurate, complete and within the instruction.

2-week PTE Core preparation plan

CLB 7 · if your diagnostic is already close

StageFocus
Days 1–3Learn the Core instructions and record a baseline
Days 4–10Rotate the weakest skill and check the reason for each error
Days 11–14Use the Core clock, then compare repeated weaknesses

Daily study-session checklist below. These counts are suggested practice repetitions, not the question counts on a test. Allow a rest or catch-up day when needed; move the calendar rather than compressing missed work.

After each session, note one missed requirement, one language error and what you will change next time. Revisit that note before attempting a fresh question. Use the remaining task types in the directory as a rotating second session rather than repeatedly rehearsing one answer.

4-week PTE Core preparation plan

CLB 8 or 9 · if you need a longer review cycle

StageFocus
Week 1Learn the formats and identify a weak skill
Week 2Work on accuracy before adding timer pressure
Week 3Mix the formats and follow the Core clocks
Week 4Check remaining gaps and adjust the next cycle

Free-account AI feedback is shared across the tests and limited to 25 scores per day. Objective tasks and Write from Dictation use answer-based marking. A further full mock needs an available credit; the open examples can be reviewed without using one. No score gain is promised.

Questions students ask

How do I prepare for PTE Core at home in two weeks?

Start PTE Core preparation with a diagnostic or your account’s 1 free full mock test, shared across Core and Academic, then choose a 2-week, 4-week or 8-week plan based on the gap in each skill. Use the daily checklist and move to timed work after checking the instructions.

Which plan should I use for CLB 9?

Compare your current skill evidence with the target. The four-week and eight-week schedules offer different review time, but neither promises CLB 9 by a date.

Can I take a free mock at every checkpoint?

No. Each account receives 1 free full mock in total, shared across Core and Academic. Use fresh practice tasks at later checkpoints unless you have another mock credit.

Do I need to study every day?

The counts describe a study session. Add rest or catch-up days and adjust the calendar to your available time; accuracy and review matter more than finishing a checklist.
