What this practice covers
30 original RealPTE tasks cover formal and informal requests, explanations, complaints, invitations and arrangements. They are not Pearson questions or recalled exam items. Seven scoring traits
| Trait | Raw maximum | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Content | 3 | Fulfil the situation and all three requirements. |
| Email conventions | 2 | Use an appropriate greeting, ending and register. |
| Form | 2 | 50–120 words: 2; 30–49 or 121–140: 1; under 30 or over 140: 0. |
| Organization | 2 | Connect and order ideas clearly. |
| Vocabulary | 2 | Choose words suited to this situation. |
| Grammar | 2 | Use controlled grammatical structures. |
| Spelling | 2 | 0–2 spelling/typing errors: 2; 3–4: 1; 5 or more: 0. |
The task instruction is 80–120 words. The January 2026 guide gives full Form credit for 50–120 words; those are different rules. All capitals or no punctuation gives Form zero. Content or Form zero stops scoring on all other traits. Email conventions and organization are judged separately from essay development.
RealPTE uses the public descriptors for AI practice feedback. The displayed 10–90 estimate linearly rescales these 15 rubric points. It is not Pearson’s score conversion, your official Writing score, or a calibrated Core prediction. Do not enter this single-task estimate as an official score in the CLB calculator. Scoring failures display an error.
